[Alstroemeria Records] - POP | CULTURE 5 I just wrote about how disappointed I was with Alstroemeria Records in my previous post, and this album reinforces my opinion on them. Since this was one of the first few C89 albums uploaded, I ended up listening to it first. Read on for the full review. Internal Ability sounds very similar to Lost Emotion from POP | CULTURE 3 especially in song structure and the way that nomico sings. The third track, Determine, wasn't especially good or bad, so there's not much to say about it. Camellia's track, That Full Moon Over The Haunted Ship, was actually fine. It's still your typical EDM but I think the arrangement makes use of the original theme pretty well. I was really let down by Syrufit's track, Sepia. It was very boring and the mastering was done kind of weirdly. I think he could have brought the vocals and mid-bass punch up a bit, and toned the treble down just slightly. Tracy's guest track, Lonely Rabbit, sounds way different from the rest of the album but in a decent way. Track #7, Not in the world, is an electropop arrangement of an old theme from Touhou 2. It sounds similar to Last Remain from POP | CULTURE 4 but the drop is a little less exciting. Track #8, Stardust, was a big disappointment. Not only is it the same re-used structure and sound of all of Masayoshi x Ayame's tracks since DEGENERATE DANCEHALL, it is a poor arrangement of Emotional Skyscraper. The only way that I could even tell it was an arrangement was from parts of Ayame's voice. Zytokine's remix of LAPSE okay I guess. ARM's remix of Visions brought some more excitement to the track but you can still tell how similar all of the Ayame tracks are, if you even compare it to Stardust. So overall, the album isn't particularly bad. It's just very boring and repetitive. ALR is guilty of just using the same song structures over and over again. Perhaps they're running out of ideas, which is evident from their constant usage of the POP | CULTURE name. At the very least, there weren't any unpleasant surprises like Camellia's Restart from POP | CULTURE 4. The trap drop in it made me almost want to rip my headphones off. Better luck next time, Alstroemeria. Overall - 3/5. Mediocre, not worth your timeQuick question: do you guys prefer paragraph styled reviews or a list for my album reviews?
