The second episode was pretty good, with the expectation that the anime can't possibly cover everything that's in the VN. The animation was smooth overall like the first episode, and I really liked that they included the animated CVs from the VN. The voice acting has been improved upon from the VN, as the seiyuu's tones change depending on how the scenes are played out in the anime. The best parts were the scenes at the end of the episode, showing the girls as they first arrived in Mihama Academy. Sachi's introduction was my favorite out of them :P
Of course I would have loved to hear more of Yuugi's inner monologues, but we'll have to do without them. I wish I could remember more of the minor scenes that happen in the VN, but its been too long since I read it.

Thank you, Ellie (@ragna_infinity) for making me a cute Byakuren .gif!
It adds a nice little touch to the blog sidebar. Hi everyone! It's been a long time since my last post. The usual reasons like always. But anyways... onto Grisaia! Mihama Academy—on the surface, a closed learning environment established to nurture students who find themselves at odds with the world around them; in actuality, an orchard-cum-prison built to preserve fruit that has fallen too far from its tree. Grisaia no Kajitsu is one of my favorite VNs and now there's an anime adaptation of the VN. Of course there are always drawbacks to adaptations, but once in a while there are successful ones like Clannad, Fate/stay night, and a few others. Some limitations include: censorship of content and H, removal of many scenes to allot for the time limitation, and unfaithfulness to the original work. So how did the first episode of the anime fair against it's original work? Read on to find out. Note: No spoilers beyond this post's episode (spoilers will be in black color and can only be read when highlighted), and there will be NSFW content (at the bottom, with an additional warning). You have been warned! |
