Now that I've finally settled into my work routine and figured out how to handle my personal time better, I've finally gotten the chance to finish this post up. It's long overdue and I apologize to the faithful readers who have been waiting for this!
Reitaisai 13 is long done but maybe there will be an album or two on this recap that you may have missed! I always strive to listen to albums from circles that I've never heard of before, as they are usually the ones that surprise me. That has certainly been the case with this Reitaisai. Before the album impressions though, I want to say thanks to @medoart for the art commission. I wanted a drawing of Satori because I've been really enjoying her theme lately and there was a pretty sweet arrangement of Third Eye in one of the R13 albums. If you've been reading my reviews, you'd know which one!

Just got my Comiket 90 loot from BuyDoujin.com! Yeah I know... only one album is actually from C90 but PROMISED DANCEFLOOR and Acoustic Episode are two of my favorite touhou albums ever. I was actually supposed to get a second copy of Acoustic Episode for my friend, but it looks like BuyDoujin forgot to put it in :(. Oh well, I'll have to contact them about it. Still, the package helped turn my shitty day into a decent one.
There's going to be at least 1 more album that I'll be getting from Comiket and I'll be working to see if I could help Release Hallucination get their albums up onto BuyDoujin. If it works out, I'll definitely be getting their albums as well! In other news, I've been listening through a lot of C90 albums and I'd love to share some of my thoughts on some of them in a future post. Hi guys!
It's been a while since my last blog post. If you guys have been following me on FB or twitter, I've been occasionally writing things there. I just wanted to let you guys know that I started my first full time job ever last week Monday since graduating college last year. I've been enjoying my job so far but it's a M-F 9AM-5PM job so it doesn't really leave me with much time to do things on weekdays. When I come home, I usually just want to listen to a bit of music and relax. The only real time I have for ding blog writing is on the weekends. So where does this leave TES? I definitely still want to occasionally write reviews and event overviews/recaps. There isn't another website that I'm aware of that does such things for touhou music. I'm just not sure how often I'll be able to do it. That being said though, if anyone were interested writing for TES then I am open to that. That way, the blog would be kept more alive and we can share our love for touhou music. Please send me a msg via my FB page or DM via twitter and we can work out the details. This would be on a voluntary basis and you will get nothing out of it aside from personal enjoyment. You would basically be writing album reviews and recommendations, covering events, and occasionally making special posts like what I did for Mei Ayakura. Anyways! I'll still be doing the C89 preview once some albums start popping out, so look out for that! If you haven't already, please follow me on FB or twitter for additional updates. Cheers, Jimmy [Frozen Starfall] - PROMISED DANCEFLOOR
Have you ever wondered what German vocals sound like? Most of you have probably never heard a song in German before, and definitely not a Touhou arrangement with German vocals.
Frozen Starfall (previously known as Babbe Music) is a German doujin circle that makes electronic touhou arrangements. Its sole arranger is Babbe, who draws inspiration for his arrangement from well known arrangers such as Masayoshi Minoshima, Syrufit, and Kirin. The other members of the circle consist of the vocalist Sasi, Lyricist H*M, and internal supporter Mai88. For more informational on Frozen Starfall, check out their website here. As for PROMISED DANCEFLOOR, it is Frozen Starfall's second album and the continuation of Babbe Music's DANCEFLOOR series. Babbe's inspiration for the series undoubtedly comes from Alstroemeria Record's (ALR) DANCEHALL series, and it's easy to see why. PROMISED DANCEFLOOR is what ALR's ULTRA DANCEHALL should have been. If you liked ALR"s older albums, especially ABANDONED DANCEHALL (ADH), then you must give this album a listen. Otherwise, it's an opportunity to listen to what I believe to be one of the best albums that Reitaisai 13 has to offer. Hello readers!
Just wanted to post a quick recommendation for a short jazz touhou album that I listened to on touhou radio today. As far as I know, this is the only album that's by 10th Avenue Cafe. It's only 4 tracks long and arranged by Tomoya Okawa and tak. You may recognize Tomoya from his works with DDBY and tak from his works with Shibayan Records. Anyways, it's a nice jazz album that you guys will probably enjoy! Download link (courtesy of dojin.co) |
