Since I missed the video a few days ago, here it is! Read on for my thoughts on this Comiket's games, and for the interesting releases. 5:10-625 A side-scrolling adventure game that allows for 2-player play. The gameplay doesn't look like it's anything special but it's always nice to see some multiplayer touhou game! 6:28-9:31 So it seems like this Touhou real time strategy (RTS) game is finally being released this Comiket. I believe that an earlier pre-production version of the game was shown during C88. The game play looks like it'll be fun! I love playing RTS games like warcraft 3 and starcraft 1/2, so it's great to finally see a touhou RTS. The sprites in this game seem to be very well done too, but I think the boob sizes are... exaggerated. Okay, maybe Sanae's seem appropriate. 16:50-18:08 An early concept of a 3rd person FPS game that'll eventually come. There was some footage from the last comiket as well, but this version seems more polished than before. I think it'll be easy for the western world to play a game like this rather than a rpg or rts since it's easy to figure out how to play. 32:20-34:06 A cool looking action rpg that allows you to to switch between 4 characters during combat. The gameplay looks good, but could use a little bit of smoothing in the animations. They copied the Final Fantasy X grid leveling system, heh. 39:14-41:14 A new version of Skylens! I'm not sure if the more recent versions of skylens added new content or not, but each version looks even more polished than before. I remember writing a little bit about this during my C86 preview. Is this still in demo stage? Has anyone found a demo link for this game? I'd love to try it out. 1:07:56-1:10:30 fault is one of the most exciting VN series that I've read this year. Each novel is split into "milestones", and the one reference in the video is milestone 2, side above. If you've never heard of fault, be sure to check it out on steam. Both fault milestone 1 and 2 are only about 3-4 so they're very quick reads. I'll eventually get around to re-reading both VNs and writing reviews on them. 1:18:48-1:20:32 I was excited for this VN when I first saw it in the preview video. The CGs and backgrounds looked really nice. The song was pretty good too. But then I looked it up on VNDB and found out that it was already released in English. There aren't that many votes yet but an average of 6.83 doesn't give me any confidence that the VN is any good. Unfortunately I don't think this Comiket's doujin games are nearly as exciting as the previous one. Comiket 88's highlight release was Touhou Skydrift, which is a racing game based off of Mario Kart Double Dash. It's an incredibly fun game with constant patches and updates, with new characters and stages. Comiket 87 didn't have anything exciting but it did have the playable demo of Skydrift. Looking back even further, Comiket 86 had Adventures of Scarlet Curiosity as its highlight release.
There are tons of danmaku games like usual, and some really weird (but funny) games. There were two Fire Emblem clones that looked somewhat interesting too. But really, it's mostly just knockoffs of other games. Oh well! At least the touhou RTS is very promising and may eventually get a translation patch if it's popular enough. Nonetsympathia is also pretty promising but since it's not a touhou game, I doubt that it'll ever get a translation. I'd still like to attempt playing it though! Which games did you guys find interesting? Let me know in the comments below!
